An adaptation of an old adage that is particularly relevant to health and safety.  Of course you wouldn’t be allowed to send small boys up chimneys or down coalmines - the law no longer turns a blind eye to exploitation in the workplace, and  I know you’d never subject your workforce to the awful conditions that existed in years gone by, but how much do you understand about your responsibility to meet health and safety requirements? What are the legal implications for employers who operate in poor working conditions or for employees who are put at risk?   Ignorance is not an excuse - the courts can and do take stern measures to punish perpetrators.
 

Everyone who works needs to know how to work safely without injury or risk to health.  Clear instructions, proper information and adequate training go a long way towards creating a safe workforce.  It makes sense to ensure that everyone you employ is properly trained in health and safety and that you have someone who has the knowledge and experience to monitor your workforce activities. It's a small price to pay for the wellbeing of your business and your staff.
